he Indonesian leg of the Asian Grand Prix (AGP) International Ballet Competition, the ballet competition for the Asia-Pacific hosted annually in Hong Kong, will be held over two days in Jakarta on Mar. 3-4.

Although the competition's venue has not been announced, aspiring dancers can register for the AGP Regional Competition Jakarta through the official website of AGP Jakarta co-organizer, non-profit foundation Ballet ID, or through the AGP International Ballet Competition's website.

The competition is divided into Pre-competitive and Competitive divisions for male and female dancers, each with three different levels according to the dancer's age on Aug. 13, 2018. Dancers from 7-12 years old compete in the Pre-competitive Divisions, while those 13-19 years old compete in the Competitive Divisions.

The top four winners of AGP Jakarta will join the AGP Final in Hong Kong, which will be held over five days from Aug. 13 to Aug. 17. Only winning dancers of the regional events, along with those who pass the video audition, will qualify for the final.

According to the AGP's rules and regulations, the final awards include cash prizes for winners and scholarships for dancers that exhibit high potential in becoming a professional ballet dancer. The winner of Asian Grand Prix Award, for instance, will be awarded a trophy, a certificate and a HK$30,000 (US$3,837) cash prize.

The AGP Regional Competition will be held in nine selected cities across the Asia-Pacific, including Bangkok, Hong Kong, Manila, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, Taipei and Tokyo. (asw)
