ctor Henry Golding has made his first appearance on the Emmy-winning US talk show The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday. Golding was a guest on the popular TV show with actress Constance Wu to promote their much-anticipated film, Crazy Rich Asians.

Golding, whose father is British and mother is Malaysian, gushed to DeGeneres about making his debut on her show. “This is insane! There’s real people here,” he said, referring to the live audience. He tried to continue but was left speechless. “This is like.. ,” he said, laughing.

During the interview, Golding explained his parentage with DeGeneres. “I’m Iban, so I’m half-Malaysian and half-British. My mother’s from East Malaysia, Sarawak.” DeGeneres then showed the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine with Golding and Wu on the cover.

Apart from promoting their film, Golding and Wu were made to play an Ellen game called ‘Crazy Rich Cash Grab’. They had to spend 30 seconds in a wind-generated money machine to grab as many dollar bills as they could.

DeGeneres also made him put on a giant white underwear to stuff all the money in. On top of that, Golding was tasked to help a member of the audience win a major travel prize. Watch the video clips to see the interview and find out how Golding fared in the contest.

Crazy Rich Asians is the first major Hollywood film since The Joy Luck Club to feature an all-Asian cast. It’s scheduled to open in cinemas this August.
