Official trailer, poster for ‘Sultan Agung’ biopic released

Directed by Hanung Bramantyo, the film was inspired by the life and struggles of the king of Mataram, sultan Agung.

ooryati Soedibyo Cinema officially released the poster and trailer for Sultan Agung: Tahta, Perjuangan dan Cinta (Sultan Agung: Throne, Struggles and Love) on Friday.

Directed by Hanung Bramantyo, the film was inspired by the life and struggles of the king of Mataram, sultan Agung.

The trailer showcases the life of sultan Agung, previously known as Raden Mas Rangsang, starting from a teenage boy before ascending the throne to his fight against the Dutch East Indies Company (VOC).

The film features renowned actors and actresses, including Ario Bayu, Lukman Sardi, Anindya Kusuma Putri, Adinia Wirasti, Marthino Lio and Putri Marino.

Sultan Agung: Tahta, Perjuangan and Cinta was produced by the owner of local beauty brand Mustika Ratu, B.R.A. Mooryati Soedibyo.

Mooryati said in a statement that the film was not only for entertainment purposes, but also as guidance to value challenges, which are seen in the life of sultan Agung.

The filming took place at Gamplong hamlet in Sleman, Yogyakarta. Following its completion, Mooryati reportedly donated the film set to the public on July 15.

Sultan Agung: Tahta, Perjuangan dan Cinta is set to hit cinemas on Aug. 23. (jes/kes)
