espite only making its debut in the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game Arena of Valor (AOV) in August, Wiro Sableng is already a favorite of the Valor Cup Season 3 champion team, Tamago.

The Singaporean team won the Valor Cup Season 3 championship in Manila, the Philippines, in September after defeating home country team MaxBox Gaming. Tamago also performed impressively in the PVP E-sports championship in Singapore last October, as reported by bola.com.

Leading Tamago’s lineup of victory-bringing characters is Wiro Sableng.

Wiro Sableng is based on a fictional heroic character from an Indonesian novel series by Bastian Tito. The character has been adapted into Indonesian TV shows and recently an action-comedy film called Wiro Sableng: Pendekar Kapak Maut Naga Geni 212.

In the game he is similar to his novel counterpart, with an all-white suit, long black hair, a ‘212’ chest mark and his signature axe, Kapak Maut Naga Geni 212.

AOV developer Tencent Games included the hero on AOV’s Indonesian servers ahead of the 2018 Asian Games. It gained international popularity after being widely used in AOV Star League Season 2 in September.

"Wiro Sableng is special because he is increasingly used everywhere; no other country has featured their local hero," Garena Indonesia e-commerce business operations head, Hans Saleh, said. (iru/kes)
