Prior to the final, Asti came out on top in the Best Actress National Winners category, along with co-star Reza Rahadian in the Best Actor National Winners category and Monty Tiwa and Robert Ronny in the Best Direction Fictional National Winners category.

Among competitors for the Best Actress award was Japan’s Yuko Takeuchi who starred in HBO Asia’s and Japan-based Hulu’s detective series Miss Sherlock, according to a press release received by The Jakarta Post.

Robert Ronny, producer of Legacy Pictures, which created the film adaptation of Ika Natassa’s novel Critical Eleven, said that Asti deserved the award, especially for her consistent good acting and dedication including in other Legacy Pictures film productions namely Kapan Kawin? (When Will You Marry?), Ada Apa Dengan Cinta 2 (What’s Up With Cinta? 2) and Kartini.

Indonesia competed with more than 40 countries at the AAA, including Japan, China, Korea and Australia.

“I didn’t expect to receive this award, especially knowing that the judges were professionals coming from the US, Canada, UK, Mexico and Argentina. I won the award because of the hard work and immense support of many people,” Asti was quoted as saying. (mut)
