Featuring more than 100 vendors, Bridestory Fair 2019 puts modern heritage into the spotlight.
he fourth installment of Bridestory Fair returns for three days from Feb. 1 to 3 at the Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City hotel in South Jakarta.
This year, the event highlights modern heritage. The selection of the theme is based on bridestory.com visitors’ preference as well as global trends and Pantone color of the year.
“We’d like to inspire couples in using Indonesian traditional elements with modern presentation through soft and natural colors. It’s effortless yet meaningful,” said Nathalia Isadora, lead project coordinator of Bridestory Fair, during a press conference on Friday at Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City hotel in South Jakarta.
The modern heritage theme can be applied to wedding dress and décor, among them are the combination of kebaya (traditional long-sleeved blouse) and dress and mega mendung batik patterns that are carved on gebyok (Javanese wooden walls).
“The traditional [concept] is still popular, especially in holy matrimony and akad nikah [Islamic matrimony],” said Ayunda Wardhani, Bridestory's vice president of marketing, on the same occasion.

Besides involving modern element, Bridestory Fair also accommodates the archipelago’s diverse culture.
"We present the more general version of Indonesian culture, but weddings could always be customized according to each family's tradition," said Nathalia.
The annual event offers 15 categories comprising more than 100 vendors, such as Papillon Card for wedding stationery, Tulola for jewelry, Hilda by Bridestory for virtual wedding consultancy, Sugar Gallery for cakes and Bramanta Wijaya Sposa for wedding gowns, to name a few.
The wedding venues featured in the event are mostly from Bali as destination weddings are predicted to maintain their popularity this year. Among the venues are Conrad Bali, Ayana Resort and Spa and The St. Regis Bali Resort.
Unlike the previous year, Bridestory Fair provides a special area for gift shops where the pair can buy presents for their bridesmaids and groomsmen, as varied as reed diffusers to tableware.
Opening from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., the event is for the public, but visitors need to install the Bridestory app and show it to staff before entering the venue. (mut)
