Depok shopping mall praised for playing national anthem every morning

All staff members of Pesona Square Mall can be found standing up throughout the song and singing along.

etizens have praised a shopping mall in Depok, West Java, for its commitment to playing the national anthem “Indonesia Raya” at 10 a.m. every day when the mall opens. Additionally, all staff members can also be found standing up throughout the song and singing along.

A post by showed his appreciation for Pesona Square Mall.

“This is the best shopping mall in the world, every day at 10 a.m. they always sing 'Indonesia Raya' before opening the mall,” shared Twitter user @bangzul_1988.

The Saturday post has so far garnered more than 5,000 retweets, 10,000 likes and 600 positive replies as of Monday morning. 

The CEO of PT Menara Depok Asri, the operator of the mall, Asri Alwi Bagir Mulachela, said that singing the national anthem every morning had been a ritual since the opening of the mall on Sept. 27, 2018.

“We want to remind the public of the importance of the national anthem by playing the song every morning,” Alwi said as quoted by kompas.com on Sunday.

"This is our company's policy. We want to regrow people's love toward Indonesia as part of our effort to love our own country," he added. (gis/kes)
