ritish singer Harry Styles is reportedly in the early phase of negotiations for the role of Prince Eric in Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid, according to The Hollywood Reporter

The news came one week after it was confirmed that American singer Halle Bailey would play the lead role of Ariel.

Styles rose to fame in 2011 as a member of popular group One Direction. The group has released five albums since 2012 and announced a hiatus in 2016. In 2017, Styles released a self-titled debut album and starred in a Christopher Nolan film, Dunkirk.

Earlier this month, Variety reported that actors Melissa McCarthy, Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina would also star in the film, playing Ursula the sea witch, Flounder the fish and Scuttle the seagull, respectively.
