Twivortiare is set to stir moviegoers’ hearts with its love triangle story starring Reza Rahadian, Raihaanun and Denny Sumargo.
This August seems to be a prime month for Indonesian cinema, with a number of high-profile movies set to hit theaters.
Bracing for tough competition from period drama Bumi Manusia (This Earth of Mankind) and superhero flick Gundala is Twivortiare, which sees A-listers Reza Rahadian, Raihaanun and Denny Sumargo caught in a love triangle.
Set to hit theaters on Aug. 29, the movie is a condensed adaptation of Ika Natassa’s two popular novels – Divortiare and its sequel Twivortiare.
Directed by Benni Setiawan, the romantic drama follows the relationship of workaholic surgeon Beno Wicaksono (Reza) and successful banker Alexandra Rhea (Raihaanun) and their whirlwind romance of dating, marriage and eventual divorce when Alexandra then finds a new flame in Denny Ibrahim (Denny).
Reza says that moviegoers can easily relate to the story as most people have experienced the ups and downs of a romantic relationship.
“[The movie] will resonate with a lot of people, and I want to convey something that is very honest,” Reza said during the cast’s visit to The Jakarta Post recently.
“The movie doesn’t touch on the dating aspect, but rather their married life and divorce. However, as to why Beno decides to rekindle the relationship, you’ll have to see the movie yourself,” Reza said with a smile.
