Online puzzle attracts adults, professionals

While many online games target youths as users, Ceriagames also targets parents and adults.

Syahmudrian Lubis, president director of PT Ceria Indonesia, on Thursday said his company led game campaigns for parents and adults to ensure them Ceriagames was safe for children.

"We understand many parents are afraid of the bad impact of online games. This is why we create Ceriagames, a puzzle online games that can stimulate the player's mind," Syahmudrian said.

Since its launch on June 11, Ceriagames has attracted around 50,000 visitors up until July 3. To join the game, players can log on to www.ceriagames.com.

The game is made of eight puzzle parts on a nine-part board. Players must place the parts in order to win the game.

Syahmudrian said that the game could be played by people aged from 18 to 50. "The majority of web visitors are people aged between 19 and 29," he said.

One adult falling in love with the game is 43-year-old Andri, who won the monthly prize of Rp 100 million (US$10,800).

Andri, a resident of East Jakarta who works as an entrepreneur, said his first encounter with Ceriagames was in June when he went to a computer exhibition with his family.

He got hooked on the online game and exercised hard before he decided to join the competition.

"Exercise is important as I only spent three vouchers for playing the game this month," Andri said.

He said he had yet to plan anything with the prize as he would continue playing the game to win the main prize.

To entice people to play the game, the company provides cash prizes provided by its sponsors for players with the highest points.

To participate in a game, a player must buy a voucher of Rp 5,000 that will provide players with 10,000 points. The points will decrease on the first movement of a puzzle.

"The points will decrease by 9 points for each puzzle movement and for each second. So players are urged to finish the game before the points run out. If the points are over, players must buy another voucher," Syahmudrian said.

He said the website also got visitors residing outside Indonesia like the U.S., Norway and Singapore.

"If such good response from abroad keeps growing, we'll make the English version and consider using international currency," he said.
