Nia hospitalized for typhus

JAKARTA: It seems soap opera star Nia Ramadhani worked a little too hard over the weekend, winding up in the hospital.
The actress was taken to MMC Hospital in Kuningan, South Jakarta, after she complained of feeling ill while making a sinetron (soap opera) around midday on Monday.
Nia’s manager Didi confirmed that the 18-year-old actress had been diagnosed with typhus.
“She was diagnosed with typhus and why else if it’s not because of exhaustion?” Didi said as quoted by detik.com on Tuesday, adding that Nia had felt unwell since Saturday.
Didi said the family was refusing to receive any visitors.
Nia, whose real name is Prianti Nur Ramadhani, is being treated in a VIP room. Her mother Chanty Mercia is by her side.
Nia, who has also appeared in three horror movies since 2007, has been romantically linked with several celebrities including R&B singer Ressa Herlambang, Samson’s singer Bams and Adnan Yasin Limpo. In mid-October 2008 she appeared in public with Ardiansyah Bakrie, the son of businessman and politician Aburizal Bakrie. –JP
