AKARTA: Former Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) colleagues Muhammad Iqbal and Benny Pasaribu pointed the finger at each other at the Corruption Court on Thursday when asked who had initiated a controversial ruling in a case on a monopoly in the television industry.
"In the previous trial Anna Maria Tri Anggraini *another KPPU member* testified that she actually had a dissenting opinion *about the ruling* but in the last minute she changed her mind and agreed with it. That was after she met with you, right?" Iqbal asked Benny when given a chance to respond to his testimony.
Benny however responded that it was Iqbal who met with Anna five minutes before he arrived at the KPPU and then left them to perform Friday prayers.
Iqbal is on trial for allegedly receiving a Rp 500 million (US$46,620) bribe from former Lippo Group boss Billy Sindoro to issue a KPPU ruling to benefit PT Direct Vision, a subsidiary of Lippo group.
The KPPU ruled last August that Astro All Asia Multimedia Networks - the company that provided the programing to Direct Vision - was in violation of the antimonopoly law when it broadcast English Premier League matches in Indonesia.
