JAKARTA: A former supplier for the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry has expressed regret that his involvement in projects at the ministry cost more than Rp 2 billion (US$190,400) in state loses, though claims he did not benefit significantly from his role in the scandal.

"In terms of commercial and economic value, I did not benefit much from the projects," Karnawi, director of PT Panton Pauh Putra, said in his plea to the Corruption Court on Monday.

"I only received Rp 513 million in total *from the projects*," he added.

Prosecutors are demanding Karnawi serve four years in prison for his alleged involvement in the purchase of equipment for vocational training centers in Banda Aceh and Medan in North Sumatra, which were valued at nearly Rp 7 billion. - JP
