Issues: `Manohara home safely after escape'

Manohara Odelia Pinot, an Indonesian model who was reported to have been kept and abused by her Malaysian royal husband, joyfully returned to Indonesia on Sunday, after a dramatic escape from a hotel in Singapore. Speaking to a packed press conference in Jakarta, the American-descent Indonesian model, who speaks fluent English and French, recounted her movie-like escape: She had to stay in a bathroom to buy time, refused to be injected and repeatedly press the emergency button in the elevator before the Singaporean police came to help her.

Your comments:

I am very glad that Manohara managed to escape.

If you (Manohara) have been abused, then this should be made public so they will get no respect. I think this is great news, Indonesians, Singaporeans and Americans working together as one.

I feel sorry that the Malaysian media failed to perform its duty in a free and civilized world: Bringing the truth to their own people.

Toto

This is a scam and a money-making venture. It is just for the entertainment of Indonesian TV viewers with no comment on the money she and her mother took from the victim from Malaysia.

Your plight has been brought to our (Malaysian's) attention. We are very happy for you - your daring escape and safe return into the arms of your loved ones - your family.

They deserve you more. Let this be a lesson to all. Love is blind, so be extra careful when someone says you are beautiful. It can be a poisoned chalice.

The ordeal of Manohara is a classic example how women are treated by what people call royalty, who are revered and respected by their subjects but inside are sick. They seem to be educated and cultured but their personality proves otherwise. Women should be loved and adored, not abused but look at what they call royalty are doing - they seem to have another sort of breeding.

I know the culture and tradition of our brothers across our border but to think that a few of them are abusing their frail and helpless wives, they can be compared to an ignoramus who don't even know the word "respect" when it comes to women. Hopefully these kind of people need to be treated so they will live up to their great and noble culture.
