I am confident it will definitely work as long as the KPK continues being strong and dedicated and gets full support from the people. The KPK should open a hot line for people to report any practices of illegal fees in public places.

The KPK's investigation of illegal fees in public services is laudable, but it will only be effective if the KPK keeps carrying out these checks on a regular basis and not just sporadically.
Otherwise, as soon as the KPK has turned its back, unscrupulous officials in these public services will just return to their merry old ways of milking the people they are supposed to serve - and probably even more so, to make up for lost time (and loot) due to the KPK's sniffing around!
Incidentally, maybe the KPK could do some checking into PLN's affairs, considering this public service company seems to be chronically short of funds, despite being a monopoly in supplying the country's electricity and hiking up its installation fees beyond the means of the public it is supposed to serve?

If you think this will completely eradicate corruption in public services, dream on. But to reduce it at least, then yes. To expect no corruption at all, forget it.

First, we should see who the next president will be, to see whether he or she is enthusiastic about eradicating corruption, crucial because he or she is the highest leader in this country.
Illegal fees are just one of many kinds of corrupt activities. The KPK has does well eliminating corruption. If the KPK can investigate the higher level cases, people will give the institution more respect.

It's difficult. Illegal fees have been around for too long here. It has become common practice for too many people. To be honest, most people are tolerant of such a situation, because they know the salaries of the civil servants.
As long as the amount requested is not too high, most people will willingly pay such fees. I think the KPK will need extra powers and political support to carry out this mission (impossible).

I think this will not work because, if I am not mistaken, the KPK is only authorized to handle graft cases amounting to Rp 1 billion or more. But if there are new stipulations that it can handle graft cases and illegal fees for public services, it would be very good news, because the office where I work has faced recalcitrant public service providers.
Although the minister has issued many policies to improve public service delivery, and he himself has campaigned relentlessly to disseminate and implement his policies among state institutions providing public services, the changes have not happened as quickly as expected.
Therefore, if the KPK's move is really implemented, I am sure the image of Indonesia will significantly improve, and those, especially businesspeople, who want to invest in Indonesia will easily and happily invest their money in businesses, and thus create more jobs.
However, don't forget to include the Supreme Court, where thousands of judicial reviews have remained untouched for years because the plaintiffs are unable to pay their fees.

Of course the Corruption Eradication Commission's move to eradicate illegal fees in public services will have some deterrent effect. However, as this crime has become a habit and is so widespread, total eradication will take a long time. We have to start somewhere and, at present, to just curtail this crime is the best we can expect. The public must actively support the KPK's efforts.
