n cooperation with South Tangerang's Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), Alstom Corporate Foundation (ACF) is providing a three-month health service assistance for 295 families displaced by the Situ Gintung dam collapse.
The health service assistance from the France-based foundation was submitted to the victims through Airin Rachmi Diany, the caretaker of the South Tangerang's PMI at the Wisma Kerta Mukti, the displaced people's shelter on Jl. Kerta Mukti, Ciputat.
"The ACF's assistance worth Rp 200 million will be used for Situ Gintung victims' sanitation and health service handling program as an attempt to improve quality health and empowerment," Airin told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.
The assistance will be applied in the form of a free health service program from August to October.
"We hope the program can really help the homeless families because they have the rights to free health service.
"PMI and Alstom will pay attention and conduct various programs to help the victims in the near future," she said, adding PMI is already committed to helping reduce the sufferings of disaster victims.
PT Alstom Power Energy System Indonesia (APES), which help to manage the ACF, announced the assistance was still an initial phase.
"We have discussed about the health condition in South Tangerang which has good potentialfor health aids distribution and this will guide us to other health service collaboration in the future," said Eko Sulianto, APES' development director.
Since the Situ Gintung tragedy on March 27, the 295 displaced families along with other victims have been living in wood-plank shelters.
Each family has a 20-square-meter room to live in, while washing facilities and toilets are in outhouses.
