City finds six malls selling expired food

JAKARTA: City administration said Thursday it had found six malls selling expired food products during recent raids.
City Cooperative and Small and Medium Enterprises Agency head Ade Soeharsono said his agency was questioning the owners of those malls, declining to name the malls.
"We are in still in the process of investigating. Once we have finished, we will let the public know the names of the malls," he said, as quoted by beritajakarta.com on Thursday.
Ade said his agency would file the cases to the relevant district courts for further legal proceedings.
According to a 1999 law on consumer protection, the owners are punishable with a prison sentence of up to two years or fines of up to Rp 5 billion if found guilty. - JP
