JAKARTA: Feeling that he’s got experience enough in the entertainment world, TV show host Indra Bekti wants to explore the world behind the silver screen.
And he promises to make something really Indonesian.
“I want to [make something that] has a very local color, a very Indonesian story featuring Indonesian culture,” said the 31-year-old presenter, who also recently launched his music career.
Sarinah, the title of his movie in the making, will tell the tale of an Indonesian woman who holds high her culture and tradition. As well as being the executive producer, Indra will also throw in ideas for the script. For the part of Sarinah, Indra has his eye on singer Anggun C. Sasmi.
“If possible, I want her to play the leading lady,” he said. “She’s got a very Indonesian look. We have contacted her but she’s busy at the moment and we need to wait for confirmation.”
To appear opposite Anggun, the chatty host wants to cast young actor Nicholas Saputra. The cast members have not been confirmed, but as soon as they do, the movie will start filming, Indra said. — JP
