T

he Denpasar Police have arrested two men allegedly involved in the murder of Japanese woman Hiromi Shimada, who was found dead in her rented house in Kuta, Badung regency, Bali last week.

The two suspects are 31-year-old Mawardi alias Anto, a native of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, and 20-year-old Abdurrahman alias Abdu from Jember, East Java.

Both of them, working at a construction site Wisma Bima 2 on Jl. Raya Kuta, were arrested separately, Bali Police chief Insp. Gen. Sutisna said Thursday.

"Anto was arrested at the construction site on Monday, while Abdu was arrested at his friend's house in Jember on Wednesday," Sutisna said.

According to the police, Hiromi and the suspects had only known each other on the day the victim was killed. They met at a kiosk near the construction site at around 9 P.M. last Friday and had a drink together.

The two suspects then asked Hiromi to take them to the victim's rented house located on Jl. Sadasari, Kuta.

They arrived at the house at around 10 P.M. and had another drink. The victim then took a shower but left the bathroom door open.

The suspects hit the victim's face and dragged her to the bedroom.

The suspects laid the victim and tied her hands. When the victim was no longer able to fight back, Abdu stole her jewelries, purse and ATM card and waiting outside the bedroom while Anto was still inside.

Anto sat on the victim's body and unsealed her mouth. The victim spitted on Anto's face. Anto then fought back by stabbing on the victim's stomach with a knife he bought on his pocket

Around five minuted later, the two men left the house when the victim had died, and went to the construction site.

Police said that Abdu left for Jember the next day. Following a thorough investigation, they nabbed the two suspects and seized some evidence.
