Fishermen urged not to sail due to bad weather

CILACAP, C. Java: Chairman of the All Indonesian Fishermen Association (HNSI) of Cilacap regency, Central Java, Atas Munandar has issued a prohibition on sailing for all the local fishermen Monday due to bad weather.

"There are more than 35,000 fishermen here. We have issued a ban on fishing starting today, for safety reasons," he told The Jakarta Post on Monday.

He said the sea waves were very high at an average of four meters.

"It's very dangerous and could sink fishing boats. We do not want any more deaths at sea." - JP
