Dangdut singer Dewi prefers local men

JAKARTA: Dangdut singer Dewi Persik, 24, says that she prefers dating local men over foreigners .

The twice-divorced star said that she was currently close with a local man, but refused hint his name.

“About me being close to an Indonesian, that’s true. But, who is it? I don’t want to say just yet,” she said.

“I like local products. Anyway, the President [Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono] says that we should not long for overseas products. We should be proud of local products. Dewi Persik supports local products because they’re nicer,” she said, speaking in the third person as quoted by okezone.com.

Former wife of dangdut singer Saiful Jamil and actor Aldiansyah Taher said that she continues to search for new love. “Fail again,

try again. We shouldn’t make life complicated. Why do you think Dewi Persik is more curvaceous? That’s because she doesn’t think about men anymore. Not like before, worrying about the divorce,” she said.

Amid protests over unregistered marriage, Dewi Persik threw her support behind the practice. She publicly revealed her then unregistered marriage to Aldiansyah, saying that she decided to make the move for the happiness of her lover. — JP
