AKARTA: Martono Yuwono, an architect and the deputy chairman of the National Cultural Heritage Preservation Foundation, launched a book on reviving the local wisdom of the maritime archipelago named National Awakening Spirit: Back to the Sea on Friday.
"I wrote this book because of my disappointment with Indonesians who view its maritime history as not part of the nation's character," Martono said in a discussion named "Building a Vision of the Maritime Archipelago" by the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry.
Martono hoped that the book would inspire and change Indonesians' mindset about the nation's identity as a seafaring nation, which has a long history. - JP
