AKARTA: Thai golfers dominated most age groups in the first round of the 2010 Jakarta World Junior Golf Championship, which started Tuesday at Pantai Indah Kapuk golf course.
One exception, however, took place in the boys division of 13-14 age group, where Indonesian Jordan Irawan took the lead with an even-par 72, two strokes better than Danthai Boonma and Korntawach Julamool of Thailand and Wai Yan Lin of Myanmar.
Thai juniors dominated age groups of 15 to 17 years old, 11 to 12 years old, and 10 years and under as well as girls division at age group of 10 years and under.
At the age group of 15 to 17 year olds, Natipong Srithong finished the day at the top with an even par score of 72. At the age group of 11 to 12 years old, Indonesian Andrew Widjaya scored 7 over par 79 and finished the first round with one stroke behind leader Thai Sarit Suwannarat.
At the age group of 10 years and under, Thai Puwit Anupansuebsai marked the lowest score of one over par 73 to lead over Ryan Wong of Malaysia and Theodore Raharja of Indonesia who are tied in second at four over par.
The amateur tournament, which is being held as part of Jakarta’s 483rd anniversary, will be held until June 4. — JP
