JAKARTA: Garuda president director Emirsyah Satar confirmed Tuesday that the airline company's finance director, Eddy Purwanto, has resigned after taking up a new position with the Rajawali Group, which is owned by Peter Sondakh, one of Indonesia's richest men.

"He has resigned and will join Peter Sondakh's group," Emirsyah told The Jakarta Post. Rajawali group mainly operates across three business sectors including plantations, mining and property. Emir also denied rumors that the resignation was due to internal disputes between Eddy and the board of directors.

"There is no internal conflict *among Garuda management*. The new position offered by the Rajawali Group may just be more interesting than his position at Garuda," he said. Eddy Purwanto has been working as Garuda's finance director since 2007. - JP
