AKARTA: China Investment Corporation (CIC) plans to invest up to US$2 billion in Indonesian state-owned enterprises, an official said Tuesday.
"CIC is ready to invest around $2 billion in three state companies," State-Owned Enterprises Minister Mustafa Abubakar told reporters in Jakarta at a press conference. The three companies include state electricity company PT PLN, port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III and coal producer PT Tambang Bukit Asam, he said.
The minister, however, did not mention what form the investments would take. "The state companies are still discussing the plan with CIC," he said. It was reported that CIC invested $58 billion overseas last year. - JP
