AKARTA: State railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia plans to provide women-only trains for services in Greater Jakarta on Aug. 9.
The Band-Aid solution aims to reduce instances of sexual harassment on public transportation, the company's spokesperson Sugeng Priyono told tempointeraktif.com on Thursday.
According to the plan, the train will be eight cars long and be able to carry 5 40 people. Ticket prices will remain at Rp 11,000 for the longest distance or the same price with the usual service.
"The train is Japanese and will be the first train in *Indo-nesia* with hydrocarbon technology," he said. The company hasnot yet written up a schedule for the train. - JP
