ANGERANG: Police said Monday that they arrested four people who allegedly had broken into the empty houses of residents who were out of town for Idul Fitri.
The suspects were identified as Yudi Wijaya, 28; Fahrul Rozi, 31; Ahmad Syah, 25; and Sahrul, 30.
The police also said officers had confiscated a laptop, cell phones and several keys allegedly used in the burglaries.
The arrests had been made possible due to tips from alert residents, Tangerang Police detective chief Comr. Arie Ardian said, as reported by kompas.com.
Police previously asked residents who were going out of town for Idul Fitri to ask their neighbors to watch out for suspicious behavior.
Arie said that police had yet to notify the owners of the burglarized homes.
The suspects will be charged with burglary, which carries a maximum five year prison sentence. — JP
