AKARTA: Police have arrested a middle-aged woman for murdering and mutilating her unfaithful polygamous husband at their house in Ciracas, East Jakarta.

The city police’s crime and violence division chief, Adj. Sr. Comr. Nico Afinta, said that Muryani, 53, had murdered her husband Karyadi, 53, after finding out about his latest affair.

“The suspect could not forgive him for having an affair, and he already had three wives,” he said as quoted by Kompas.com.

Muryani was Karyadi’s second wife.

Muryani, who works as a vendor at the Kramatjati wholesale market in East Jakarta, confessed to the police Tuesday a week after human body parts were found in several locations near the market, including in the nearby Kali Baru river.

A police investigation concluded Muryani murdered Karyadi last Tuesday and cut his body into eleven pieces.

Sodik, a close friend of Karyadi, said he suspected Muryani had become outraged at Karyadi’s latest affair with a widow. He said Karyadi, a civilian police assistant, had had a bad habit of sleeping with many women.

“He told me he had a special charm to attract women,” Sodik said. — JP
