AKARTA: Thirteen Islamic education figures left on Saturday to participate in a series of training exercises focused on management and leadership skills at the Sunshine Coast University in Queensland, Australia.
The training would help the participants develop managerial and leadership skills, Australian Charge D’Affairs for Indonesia Pail Robiliard said, adding that Australia wanted to improve understanding between the two nations by providing such a support for Indonesian children attending Islamic schools.
According to Robiliard, the participants will visit the best private, state and religious-based schools in the region.
The training sessions would involve central figures in Islamic education, including headmasters, teachers, professors, mass organization leaders and Indonesian government officials.
The delegates are part of a six-year program funded by the Australian government to help increase the quality of education in Indonesia. Australia has provided US$35 million to fund the program. — JP
