Abu Bakar Baasyir, the firebrand cleric detained on terrorism allegations, said on Tuesday through his lawyer that the military training sessions in Aceh were justifiable according to Islam.
“Military Training sessions are allowed as long as it they are not for evil purposes such as robbery,” lawyer Muhammad Luthfi Hakim said on Tuesday.

Cleric Ba’asyir makes a mockery of the Holy Koran and behaves as though he is above the laws of the Republic of Indonesia.
He and his organization are manipulating the disenfranchised, the dispossessed and the sadly
uneducated who believe that change can be wrought through acts of violence.
If Ba’asyir is truly a man of his convictions then how it is not that he is willing to undertake a suicide mission rather than calling on these sadly educated and informed people to pursue his actions.
Surely there is no greater form of hypocritical action.
