Tari admits that is her in sex tape

C

ut Tari testified in the trial of former Peterpan singer Nazril “Ariel” Irham on Monday that she is indeed the woman in one of the widely seen and scandal-causing sex videos.

The fourth hearing on the pornographic case at Bandung District Court on Monday featured a rescreening of the sex videos and Tari confessing the video did depict her and Ariel.

Ariel denied he is the person in the videos with two local artists, allegedly Tari and Luna Maya, the court hearing revealed.

Public prosecutor Rusmanto said Ariel had objections to all the questions regarding the sex video, which the court played six times for the six witnesses that testified.

The witnesses included former Peterpan band members, Tari and three Hajar activists, Rusmanto said.

National Police investigator Budi Haryanto was absent without an excuse, as was Luna Maya who was in Singapore.

“Five of the witnesses said they were 90 percent sure the person in the video was Ariel. Tari admitted she was the one with Ariel in the video,” Rusmanto said after the trial on Monday.

Rusmanto said Tari testified the video was one of three taken between 2005 and 2006.

The case also implicated Peterpan music editor Reza Rizaldi, who is facing charges for uploading and publicizing the videos.

Reza said he unintentionally transferred the videos from Ariel’s external disk in 2006. The videos, which were copied to Reza’s computer, were then uploaded to the Internet by Anggit Gagah Pratama and three of his friends in 2010.

The two defendants face multiple charges for allegedly violating a 2008 law on pornography, a 2009 law on information and electronic transactions and an article in the criminal code regrading immoral acts.

Prosecutors produced the external hard disk owned by Reza as evidence, as well as a number of flash disks and 18 porn video files. Both the defendants could face a minimum of six months and maximum of 12 years in prison and fines between Rp 250 million (US$27,750) and Rp 6 billion if found guilty.

Outside the courtroom, members of the Islamic Reform Movement and the National Alliance of Moral Guardians addressed the crowd and demanded judges hand down severe sentences to those involved in the case.

After the court session, Ariel expressed his objections to the discussion of the content of the videos.

“This case is about distributing the videos, so I focused on that and not on the videos themselves,” Ariel said. Ariel’s defense team, led by O.C. Kaligis, at one point objected to prosecutors who failed to present required witnesses. Kaligis declined to comment on the court proceedings.

“I decline to comment because this is a morality case and everyone has the right to privacy according to the law,” he said. The trial was adjourned until Thursday.
