AKARTA: The countrys largest shipping terminal, Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT), has announced that its productivity reached two million 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs) on Dec. 19, which was the highest productivity recorded since the company was established in 1999.
“This is the highest achievement and was achieved when we served the MV Topaz ship belonging to America President Line [APL],” JICT president director Helman Sembiring said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.
He said that JICT employees and shareholders had committed to boosting the company’s productivity to make it a world-class shipping terminal.
“JICT will increase its capacity by 50 percent to three million TEUs annually,” Helman said.
JICT is a joint-venture company, 51 percent of which is owned by Hong Kong-based Hutchinson Port Holdings and 49 percent by state-owned port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) II and the maritime employees’ cooperative. — JP
