em>Your comments on the public campaign to support World Bank managing director Sri Mulyani Indrawati to become a presidential candidate in Indonesia’s 2014 presidential election:

She is the only candidate to my mind, unless somebody can show me a better candidate in terms of integrity, international exposure, and certainly courage and confidence. Who else?

In regards to gender, I have friends in Turkey and Nigeria who are definitely Muslim, but the way they see their religion is quite astonishing. They are incredibly open-minded and spread their faith in terms of love, tolerance, compassion and most of all forgiveness.

Why is it so difficult for Indonesians to understand that a good government has nothing to do with religion? Look just outside the window from Batam Indonesia, to the most prosperous island-state in the world. This island state jumped from the Third World to the first.

Why does Indonesia fail to keep up with its neighbors Australia, Singapore and Malaysia?

It is not because of Islam. It is the politicking of Islam that keeps it from achieving whatever there is to be gained.

I will be so sad if in the 21st century all people can talk is religion and blind faith.

As an Indonesian citizen, Sri Mulyani could be one of the presidential candidates for the 2014 presidential election. The question is, would she be eligible to lead this complex nation?

Let’s wait and see.

Some organizations are campaigning for Sri Mulyani Indrawati, an able and respectable professional, to become presidential candidate in the next election.

I doubt she would be willing to be nominated.

I would think that after her term with the World Bank she would prefer to return to campus and concurrently act as an independent consultant for several national and international financial institutions.

Moreover, the current law on elections does not make it easy for one to become an independent candidate for presidency. It is also unlikely that the House of Representatives, which consists of political parties, would amend the law to facilitate independent candidates.

I have the feeling that we, military personnel, would support Sri Mul-
yani Indrawati as a presidential candidate for the 2014 election.

Bravo!

That is a good idea. Sri Mulyani is one of the greatest women in indonesia. If she is elected, she may pay serious attention to our country.

Will the lady of the national debt become RI 1? This would mean more debt to enslave us.

Sorry, no offense, but it’s true. We took out more loans than we needed at the time. For what? It was to pay bureaucrats and legislators who gave you more problems.

What about infrastructure?
Nothing!

Mulyani even obstructed the construction of a new coal plant that was being built to prevent blackouts. I still remember the weeks when Jakartans had to endure day-long blackouts because PLN’s transformer had worn out from a lack of maintenance and overuse.

I’d vote for her in 2014.

It’s OK. Every man/women has his/her own capacity.
