AKARTA: A motorcycle thief opened fire near an internet café in Jl. DDN II in Cilandak, South Jakarta, on Thursday night and managed to flee with a stolen Yamaha Mio.
Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Baharudin Djafar said Friday that the shooting took place when one of the Internet café’s staff saw the thief taking one of the motorcycles from the parking lot.
Staff member Idham Cholid then shouted at the thief, who responded by shooting at him. The bullet fortunately only hit the glass window and went into the café’s wall.
The thief then fled with the motorcycle, leaving its owner, Nurhasanah, behind. The Cilandak Police is now investigating the matter. — JP
