For the first time, Canadian singer-songwriter Feist will come to Jakarta as part of her world tour, after a scheduled performance in Australia.

She will perform at the Fairgrounds (ex-Bengkel Night Park) in the Sudirman Central Business District in South Jakarta on Feb. 15.

Born as Leslie Feist on Feb. 13, 1976, Feist started her solo music career by launching an album titled Monarch (Lay Your Jeweled Head Down) in 1999. Around five years later, she released her second album, Let It Die, which was followed by The Reminder in 2007.

Her third album garnered four Grammy nominations, including a nomination for Best New Artist. Feist, the top winner at the 2008 Juno Awards will showcase songs from her fourth studio album, Metals.

Dance

Prominent Singaporean dancer Angela Liong will present Petals in the Crowd, the second series of Flowers of Lamentation, at Teater Salihara at Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, on Feb. 17 and 18 at 8 p.m. Angela, who received a Singapore Cultural Medallion in Dance in 2009, is one of the founders of Arts Fission, a contemporary and multidisciplinary dance company. Most of her works highlight the quick change of human sensibilities amid the social landscape in cities in Southeast Asia. Petals in the Crowd will feature a collaboration with Phunk, an international art and design group.

She will use a poem of Ezra Pound, “In a Station of the Metro” (1913) and a poem from the Tang dynasty, “Faces in Peach Blossoms”. Angela will try to eliminate the space between dancers and the audience by using no stage and seats during the performance. For more information about the show, please log on to salihara.org.
