DENPASAR: A 17-year-old girl accused of trafficking three underage girls was sentenced to three years imprisonment by the Denpasar District Court’s panel of judges
ENPASAR: A 17-year-old girl accused of trafficking three underage girls was sentenced to three years imprisonment by the Denpasar District Court’s panel of judges.
The verdict was lighter than the six years sought by the public prosecutor.
“We found the defendant, Ananda Fitriani, guilty of sexually and economically exploiting underage children in an apparent effort for profit,” said presiding judge Erly Soelistiarini.
The judges also slapped a fine of Rp 30 million on the defendant.
Fitriani was arrested by South Denpasar Police in January following a report from one of the victims’ parents.
The victims were three junior high school students. Fitriani sold the victims as sex workers with rates ranging from Rp 400,000 to Rp 500,000. From each transaction, Fitriani pocketed up to Rp 200,000.
