AKARTA: Singer Ashanty tries her luck in the film industry and discovers comical difficulties in starring with her stepdaughter, Aurel Hermansyah, in her film debut.

“Aurel is the supporting actress. I often laughed while looking at her though I was supposed to be sad,” the 29-year-old singer said as quoted by tribunnews.com on Monday.

Ashanty, who married singer and composer Anang Hermansyah in May this year, declined to reveal the name of the film but said she would play a woman who was struggling to make it as a singer.

“It’s about a woman who failed to become a singer. She then takes a bad job,” she said.

Ashanty actually wanted Anang, who has two children from his previous marriage to singer Krisdayanti, to also appear in the film. “But Anang could not act in the film.”
