/span>Abimana Aryasatya, or Roberthino as he used to be known, is no newcomer to the Indonesian entertainment industry. Some may notice the 30-year-old — with his signature long hair — for his role in Lupus, a hit teen TV series in 1990s. He feels confident with his new name, opening up many new opportunities in film industry. In the first three months of 2013, he appeared twice on cinema screens in the films Sang Pialang (The Broker) and Belenggu (Shackle).
“Some of my work in 2012 has been released in 2013, but up to now I haven’t been signed to a new film project. However, I have a new hair cut, because I’m about to get a job that requires me to look smart.
Besides feature films, I’m also involved in an independent movie called Flora, which will also be released this year. The film tells of a girl with a sixth-sense, I played as her boyfriend.
Shooting the film was fun. We were kicked out by the hospital where we’d located the set. It was our fault because we failed to finish the shooting on time, so we had to move to another hospital.
When I’m not doing films, I play music. That’s one of my hobbies besides fishing and sleeping. I write songs at home too.
I have four children; three sons and one daughter. I love to just hang out with them. With the boys, I usually go to a swimming pool. The whole family loves to go to Ragunan Zoo on weekdays.
It’s so fun to go bike riding there, picnicking and playing with the elephants. The zoo during weekdays is much quieter and better than on Sundays. We really enjoy doing those activities when there aren’t many people around.
I don’t cook. My own ultimate dish is just a bowl of instant noodle.
I love traveling, but having a lot of family members, I can’t really go traveling too often. I also don’t have the heart to go traveling on my own because the rest of my family will get jealous. I mostly travel for work.
When I have the money, I love to take my family to any quiet place — be it mountains or beaches. I never choose Kuta [in Bali], because it’s just too crowded and we can’t do anything.
My all time favorite destinations are Karimun Jawa and Mount Rinjani.”
