The book was written by 20 experts on Kalimantan crafts from 10 different countries. They worked on a joint comprehensive survey on the variety of plaited baskets.

It is an intricate, complicated, ingenious and esthetic craft rich with iconography and is the profound proof of the local skill that has been passed down for generations.
The Kalimantan people have made plaited crafts also from using bamboo and pandan leaves. Plaited rattan crafts include other functional items like hats and carpet.
