ion Air has confirmed that it will cover medical expenses for 46 victims who sustained injuries when its Boeing 737-800 aircraft ditched in the sea off Ngurah Rai International Airport, on Saturday afternoon.
Several passengers are still undergoing medical treatment.
'All medical expenses of the passengers will be fully covered by Lion Air. There are regulations on their insurance obligations for passengers, and others,' said the Transportation Ministry's air transportation director general, Herry Bakti S.Gumay, at press conference in Bali, on Saturday evening, as quoted by Kompas.com on Sunday.
Of total 101 passengers, 46 were taken to hospital with injuries ranging from minor wounds to severe physical trauma. Five passengers are still being treated at Kasih Ibu Hospital, Badung.
The Flight number JT-960 took off from Bandung at 12:35 p.m. after arriving from Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. The accident took place at about 3:30 p.m. local time, 2:30 p.m. Jakarta time.(asw/ebf)
