The Netherlands cultural center Erasmus Huis in South Jakarta will screen 'The Marathon' at its auditorium in two sessions on the afternoon of April 27. The film tells about four friends - Gerard, Leo, Kees and Nico - who work together in Gerard's garage in Rotterdam. Unfortunately business is not going too well; they need '¬40,000 fast to save it. A junior employee, Youssoef, suggests that the four men should participate in the Rotterdam Marathon and find a sponsor. They agree, and Youssoef becomes their coach. Initially the training sessions are disasters due to their habit of smoking, drinking and snacking. Each of them also has their own problems back at home. Bentara Budaya Bali will display memorabilia from a legendary epic martial arts novel penned by Chinese-Indonesian author Kho Ping Hoo at its gallery between April 27 and May 6. Kho Ping Hoo, also known as Asmaraman Sukowati Kho Ping Hoo, who died at 67 in 1994, produced dozens ' if not hundreds ' of novels about martial arts during his 30 years of career, making a significant contributions to Indonesian colloquial literature. His most famous titles include Pedang Iblis (Demon Sword), Pendekar Gunung Lawu (Mount Lawu Fighter), Sepasang Rajawali (A Pair of Eagles) and Dewi Sungai Kuning (The Yellow River Goddess). The 'Road to Big Sound Festival' featuring The Kooks, Delphic and The Radio Dept will making a stop at the Senayan Tennis Indoor Stadium in Central Jakarta on April 24. The Kooks are a rock band from Brighton, England, whose music has been influenced by the 1960s British Invasion movement and post-punk revival. Delphic is a band from Stockport, England, playing alternative dance and shoegaze, while The Radio Dept. is a dreampop band from Lund, Sweden. The event will serve as a prelude to the 'Big Sound Festival' featuring Blur, Tegan and Sara, and The Temper Trap in May.
