n effort to reduce the number of traffic accidents, state travel insurance company PT Jasa Raharja Banten launched a three-day training event for public minivan drivers on Thursday.

'€œThis effort is a preventive measure. We will train as many as 105 public minivan transportation drivers this year,'€ branch manager Triyugara said at the opening of the three-day seminar at Le Dian Hotel in Serang.

He said during the event, run in collaboration with the local Land Transportation Owners Organization (Organda), instructors will introduce the ethics of traffic, knowledge of traffic accidents, traffic violations, driving public minivans on the street, traffic law and road transportation to attendees.

'€œThe attendees are representatives from four regencies and four municipalities across the province,'€ he said, adding that the participants should transfer the knowledge to fellow drivers.

Matheus Bustianus, head of PT Jasaraharja service and prevention department, said his company strived to become a pioneer in traffic safety.

'€œBy conducting the training, we hope that community members in Banten and those who come to visit Banten can enjoy comfort traveling [by foot or via public transportation],'€ he said.
