(JP/R. Berto Wedhatama)Bold composites of batik patterns inspired by antique Chinese and Javanese motifs seamlessly translate the gorgeous Danar Hadi Asian Euphoria collection.

'For our first theme in 2013, we blended Javanese motifs with lok can ' decorative batik patterns that have been heavily influenced by Chinese culture. We also launched this collection in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration,' said Susi Isfandiari, branch manager of Danar Hadi Batik.

Displaying an array of charming batik designs, the collection also fully embraces vivid eye-catching colors closely associated with pesisiran (coastal) style batik.

Priyo Oktaviano was chosen as the collaborative designer for this Danar by Danar Hadi collection, which showcases elegant body-con dresses in a modern streamlined silhouette.

'The batik patterns themselves have been derived from traditional Chinese decorative motifs that were designed for praying cloths in temples,' explained Susi.

For the formal eveningwear collection, Javanese tirta teja batik prints with its signature geometric pattern stripes were combined with the popular ornamental hong bird designs, whereas the office attire dons the abstract mega mendung motifs from Cirebon and the flowery benji patterns.

The striking tambal cina motifs, with their large geometric shapes in ultra bright hues, daringly enhance the casual wear collection. Several Chinese style designs, such as the Shanghai collar and cheongsam details were infused into the clothing to further enrich the theme's Eastern flavor.

'With this theme, we hope customers can learn more about various batik patterns that were influenced by other cultures,' said Susi.
