housands of Tangerang regency workers grouped under Gerakan Rakyat Anti Kapitalisme (Gerak) have threatened to block roads heading to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on May Day should President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono turn a deaf ear to their demands.

'€œWe will not leave the airport until President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono comes and talks with us at the location,'€ Muhktar Guntur, a Gerak representative said during a visit to the Tangerang Journalist Working Group'€˜s (Pokja Wartawan Tangerang) office in Cikokol, Tangerang municipality, on Monday.

He said Gerak will deploy some 10,000 workers to all road access points heading to the airport on May 1.

'€œWe will not step back although security officers will try to secure airport,'€ he said, adding that workers were already prepared to face anything that may happen during the rally.

During the rally, the workers are expected to deliver 13 demands regarding the outsourcing system, workers associations, low monthly wages and suspension of the 2013 minimum wages.
