rosion has destroyed two houses in Samas beach, Yogyakarta,over the past week, and threatens dozens of others, prompting residents to flee.
'Erosion has undermined the foundations. The walls are corroded by waves. My house is destroyed,' said Sadino, a local.
Residents are building a temporary shelter nearby, but quite far from the beach.
In 2012 more than 50 structures were swept away.
Bantul legislative council member Aslam Ridho confirmed that they should address this problem immediately or more houses would be swept away.(asw/dic)
