criminal court in Macedonia jailed 14 people over their involvement in ethnic riots earlier this year in which at least 22 people were injured, with sentences ranging between three months to five years.
However, the court on Friday suspended the sentences of six of those convicted.
The March riots broke out in the capital Skopje after the conservative government appointed an ethnic Albanian defense minister, who had been rebel commander during a 2001 insurgency.
Rioters from the Slavic-speaking majority were involved in extensive clashes with police, while ethnic Albanian youths were also involved in a violent counter-demonstration.
