T

heAttorney General'€™s Office (AGO) named two suspects in a corruption case centeringon the procurement of subdistrict Internet Service Vehicles (MPLIK).

The two individuals are Santoso Serad, an official at the Communication and Information Technology Ministry, and Doddy Nasiruddin Ahmad of PT Multi Data Rancana Prima.

A team of prosecutors '€” led by Fadil Zumhana '€” had been assigned to gather evidence and information.

Santoso and Doddy are accused of failing to meet the project'€™s technical minimum requirements and cost the state Rp 145.6 billion in losses. They were responsible for the MPLIK installation in several regions such as South Sumatra, Banten and West Java.

When asked about his status, Santoso said he was in shock, as he had never been questioned about the MPLIK procurement before, Tempo.co reported on Tuesday.

The MPLIK project was suppose to improve internet literacy in the regions. The funds were generated from 25 percent of 10 telecommunication companies'€™ gross revenue under the Universal Service Obligation program.

The Supreme Audit Body (BPK) is also screening the MPLIK program financial reports for irregularities.(apt/dic)
