'The government has been carrying out preparation measures on the repatriation processes. The Indonesian Embassy in Egypt has been ordered to collect and assess data on Indonesians in the country to create priority-based evacuation batches,' Djoko said in a statement made available to journalists.
Only a few hours earlier, the Foreign Ministry had said it would not yet be necessary to evacuate Indonesians from Egypt.
Some 5,000 Indonesians, mostly students, currently reside in Egypt.(dic)
