ome Minister Gamawan Fauzi filed a report with the Jakarta Police against former Democratic Party politicianMuhammad Nazaruddin for defamation.
Nazaruddin had earlier accused Gamawan and other Home Ministry officials of accepting bribe money in an electronic ID procurement project.
'He accused me of receiving a bribe that was transferred directly to my account,' Gamawan said on Friday, as quoted by Kompas.com, as he exited Jakarta Police headquarters.
He then challenged Nazaruddin to prove his accusation.
The electronic citizen ID project, which was initiated in February 2013, cost the state Rp 5.8 trillion (USD$527.8 million). The project was part of a government effort to establish a comprehensive citizens database; however, it became marred by various corruption allegations and technical faults in its implementation.
