The Miss World contest will benefit Bali, as the host region, and Indonesia, an economist says.
'The contest will provide multiplying economic impacts, such as increasing Bali residents' income, as long as it provides numerous activities that utilize local talent and products,' Udayana University economist I Gusti Wayan Murjana said as quoted by Antara on Tuesday.
Murjana added that the contest would also help promote tourism in Bali and in Indonesia.
The contest is set to take place from Sept. 4 to Sept. 15 and has been met with opposition from Islamic hard liners in Jakarta.(apt)
